| A Note About Us
Rod and Lenore have been in the ministry for 48 years.
Rod pastored the Tabernacle Baptist Church in Virginia Beach, Virginia for 37 years. During that 37 years, he was active in training men and women for the ministry through the church’s Bible College and Seminary. The Tabernacle Baptist Church of Virginia Beach had an aggressive church planting and world-wide mission program. Dr. Bell believes the great commission was given to the local church, and every member should be involved in evangelizing the world for Christ.
Under Dr. Bell’s leadership, the church had a world-wide mission agency. “The sun never set upon it’s ministry.” He is continuing this burden through the “The Old Crooked Stick Ministries.” Dr. Bell has a wealth of knowledge and experience to give the helps ministries.
Dr. Bell is helping several faith-based works throughout the world in countries such as India, Mexico, Indonesia, West Indies, and Africa (especially Zimbabwe) with training nationals and planting churches world wide. He is offering to help the local church evangelize the world. Many of these countries have pastors that are graduates of Calvary Baptist Bible College in Puerto Rico.

This June Lenore and I will have served the Lord in full time Christian Service for 50 years. It seems like yesterday that we loaded up our "old Chevy" and left West Virginia for the the long trip to Greenville, SC. The Lord has been so gracious and longsuffering to us, and our journey has been greatly blessed! In reflection it has been our desire to be totally consumed and used up for our Lord. God has allowed this old crooked stick to preach around the world and to see hundreds give their lives to Christ. Our greatest joy has been to see Christ build up His Church, to help young men and women in the ministry, and to assist in training nationals to reach their people for Christ. Looking back, every step of faith has brought great reward and tremendous humility. The last 7 years have been some of the most rewarding years of our lives in service to the Lord.
With all the joys and challenges of our journey we have learned to submit the Lord's prodding along the way. It is difficult to accept, but we must realize that the old crooked stick cannot continue on as before. The doctors, my pastor, and my family have advised me to pursue another track in the journey that does not require as much from this old war horse. No, I will never retire from the service of my Lord, but due to my physical limitations I am going to have to take a post closer to home. I hate this getting old business, but I am thanking God for my present circumstances. This is a humbling challenge that we must accept, and we will bloom where we are planted and trust the Lord to meet our needs.
It has been a joy to represent Calvary Baptist Bible College, FBFI, and Zimbabwe Missions, and to participate in Missions Conferences and various church meetings made possible by our dear friends and supporters. Our hearts will always beat for world evangelism and the commission that God has placed on each of us to "Go Ye".
